What the cursor looks like when you connect a mouse to the iPad
The iPad was created with a 100% touch-based experience in mind. The iPad's mouse or cursor is a little different from the traditional arrow you'll find on a computer or Mac.
When you connect a mouse to the iPad, you will see a semi-transparent circle, similar to the area your finger would occupy. When you approach an element, such as an App or a button, it will be highlighted, and the circle will disappear. The following video will explain everything!
Steps to connect a mouse to your iPad
- Keep your iPad up to date: Go to Settings > General > Software Update.
- If your iPad mouse is Bluetooth: Go to Settings > Bluetooth and pair your mouse as you would on a traditional computer.
- If your iPad mouse is wired: You will need a Lightning to USB, USB-C, or USB-A adapter. This will also apply if your mouse is wireless and comes with a USB "stick" that you connect to the computer.
Once you've connected the mouse to your iPad, you'll be able to move around naturally with it. Clicking on elements, using spreadsheets, moving from one application to another.
